Network18 Media and Investments Ltd, which has business interests in television, movies and online retailing, reported a fourth-quarter profit of 10.5 crore compared with a year-earlier loss.

Revenue rose 14% to 841.4 crore for the quarter ended 31 March.

The company had posted a loss of 4.1 crore in the quarter ended March 2014 and a loss of 12.1 crore in the three months ended December.

“We have introduced initiatives which should continue to bring in efficiency in operations and set us on a path to higher growth and leadership," said A.P Parigi, group chief executive at Network18, during a phone interview on Wednesday.

For the year ended 31 March, the company’s loss widened almost 29-fold to 1059.9 crore from 36.7 crore in the previous 12 months. Revenue increased by 16.1% to 3,126.56 crore.

Revenue from TV18 Broadcast Ltd, a subsidiary of Network18 which operates news channels CNN-IBN and CNBC TV18, rose 11.7% to 629.7 crore. TV18 Broadcast’s profit more than doubled to 95.4 crore from 35.9 crore for the same period a year ago.

Digital initiatives for the company, including its news websites and online retailer HomeShop18, attracted close to 25 million unique visitors per month in the year ended March.

Meanwhile, recorded a 60% increase in the number of tickets sold. The site manages ticketing, as well as on-ground operations for six out of eight Indian Premier League teams.

Colors emerged as the No. 1 channel on weekend prime-time across all four quarters of the year in the general entertainment category, Network18 said in a statement.
