After Twitter, Google and Yahoo, it is time for a review of 2012 as per Facebook. Based on the social chatter on its site the social networking giant’s trends review reflects what the world has been talking about through the year.

The Facebook Year in Review 2012 is “A look back at the people, moments and things that created the most buzz in 2012 among the billion people around the world on Facebook," it said in a blog post.

The trends are available for 11 countries including the US, UK, Australia, France, Brazil and also India. For India though, the trends are only available for the most talked about songs and check-ins.

In the US, the most talked about event has been expectedly the US presidential elections. In fact, the events and politics list of trends is dominated by Obamabuzz—Barack Obama, Mitt Romney, Obamacare, “Four More years", Obama’s endorsement for gay marriage and more such.

Other popular events from the US include Hurricane Sandy, Super Bowl XL VI, London Summer Olympics and the death of Whitney Houston.

In the books category, The Hunger Games and Fifty Shades of Grey, and The Help were the most talked about titles. Among movies The Avengers, Skyfall, and Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn kept the conversation alive. Times Square in New York was the most checked-in place followed by Disneyland, California.

In UK, the most talked about event was the Summer Olympics 2012 followed by the book Fifty Shades of Grey. Rather unexpectedly, Skyfall or James Bond or anything related to James Bond did not figure in any of the three trend lists given for UK.

The most checked in places on Facebook are dominated by shopping addresses and theatres. That holds good for India as well. Select City Walk Mall in Saket Delhi is number one on the check-in list followed by Golden Temple in Amritsar and Gurudwara Shri Bangla Sahib in Delhi.
