Mumbai: Royal Enfield, the motorcycle unit of Eicher Motors Ltd, launched a limited edition series of motorcycles in Mumbai on Wednesday.

Priced at just under 2.25 lakh, the motorcycle has been inspired by the bike used by British despatch riders of World War I to ferry urgent orders and messages between headquarters and field units.

The launch of these models is part of the 114-year-old brand’s core retail strategy which involves sharpening its consumer focus, said Rudra Tej Singh, president, Royal Enfield, on the sidelines of the launch.

Available in two variants—Desert Storm Despatch and Squadron Blue Despatch—only 200 units of each colour will be offered for sale in India.

There is also a line of apparel and accessories inspired by the despatch riders.

Customers can book their motorcycles starting at 10am on 15 July at store.royalenfield.com. After booking, customers can take delivery of the motorcycles from the nearest company store or dealership.
