A television commercial (TVC) for Airtel Money, Bharti Airtel Ltd’s prepaid mobile-phone wallet, by the agency Taproot topped the Mint-Ipsos-TVAdIndx survey for ads aired in January. The commercial shows a father at the dining table griping about his son not paying the electricity bill and how the teenager is always on the phone. The son displays his mobile and says he has just paid the bill—by phone.
Ads for a new saffron and almond Horlicks flavour, Tide Naturals detergent, Lay’s American Style Cream & Onion chips with Kapoor, and Santoor soap with Saif rounded off the list of top 10 ads.
The Asian Paints ad featuring Saif and his real-life sister Soha Ali Khan was the most popular commercial aired in January, topping the ad diagnostics index measuring the softer features of ads, such as likeability, enjoyability and believability. In the TVC made by Contract Advertising, Saif is struggling to find words to describe the paint. A voice-over talks about the advanced technology that goes into the paint, the teflon surface protector, and a five-year warranty. Soha arrives at his house and is also mesmerized by the paint.
Ads for Airtel Money, Lay’s, Cadbury Oreo, Oral-B, ICICI, Horlicks, Vim Bar, Santoor and Tide followed on the ad diagnostics gauge.
