Over the years, Hindi film music has provided enough fodder for the patriot in each of us

New Delhi: Here are 10 memorable patriotic Hindi movie songs.

Jis Desh Mein Ganga Behti Hai: Sung by Mukesh and composed by Shankar-Jaikishan for Raj Kapoor-starrer Jis Desh Mein Ganga Behti Hai (1960).

Ae Mere Watan Ke Logon: Sung by Lata Mangeshkar and composed by C. Ramchandra in honour of the Indian soldiers who died during the India-China conflict of 1962. When rendered at the National Stadium in the presence of Jawaharlal Nehru, it is said to have moved the Prime Minister to tears.

Kar Chale Hum Fida: Sung by Mohammed Rafi and composed by Madan Mohan for Chetan Anand’s war film Haqeeqat (1964).

Mera Rang De Basanti Chola: Sung by Mukesh, Mahendra Kapoor, Lata Mangeshkar and Rajendra Mehta and composed by Prem Dhawan for Manoj Kumar’s Shaheed (1965).

Mere Desh Ki Dharti: Sung by Mahendra Kapoor and composed by Kalyanji Anandji for Manoj Kumar’s directorial debut Upkar (1967).

Dil Diya Hai Jaan Bhi Denge: Sung by Kavita Krishnamurthy and Mohammad Aziz and composed by Laxmikant-Pyarelal for Subhash Ghai’s action film Karma (1986).

Bharat Humko Jaan Se Pyara Hai: Sung by Hariharan and composed by A.R Rahman for Mani Ratnam’s war-thriller Roja (1992).

I Love My India: Sung by Hariharan, Kavita Krishnamurthy and Aditya Narayan and composed by Nadeem Shravan for Subhash Ghai’s patriotic musical drama Pardes (1997).

Aisa Des Hai Mera: Sung by Lata Mangeshkar, Udit Narayan and Gurdas Mann for Yash Chopra’s cross-border romantic drama Veer-Zaara (2004).

Vande Mataram: Sung by Daler Mehndi, Tanishka Sanghvi, Badshah and Divya Kumar and composed by Sachin-Jigar for Remo D’Souza’s dance-drama ABCD 2 (2015).
