HT Media launches Radio Nasha in Delhi
The launch of Radio Nasha in Delhi is the first of the phase III radio launches from HT Media
New Delhi: HT Media Ltd on Wednesday announced the launch of its second radio station, Radio Nasha 107.2 FM, in Delhi. The company already operates FM station Fever 104 in the city.
Radio Nasha will play Bollywood music mostly from the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s.
The launch of Radio Nasha in Delhi is the first of the phase III radio launches from HT Media. The company acquired 10 new frequencies in Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad and several towns of Uttar Pradesh during the phase III FM radio auctions held by the information and broadcasting ministry, beginning July last year.
The auctions spanned 125 rounds over 32 days, with 135 channels in 69 cities on offer. The total value of channels sold was ₹ 1,187 crore.
The launch of Radio Nasha in Delhi makes HT Media the first company in India to operate two radio stations in the capital.
While Radio Nasha will play retro music, Fever 104 will continue playing contemporary Bollywood music. The strategy is to segment the radio-listening market into two distinct spaces.
The two differentiated radio stations will offer advertisers a choice of two sets of audiences.
Harshad Jain, CEO-Radio and Entertainment, HT Media, said, “Currently there is no radio station that does justice to the excitement, romance and attitude of the magical eras of 1970s-1990s. Radio Nasha 107.2 FM will be the first-ever radio station packed with passion, fuelled by Bollywood celebrities and driven by RJs with a style that will be young, energetic and classy. Radio Nasha will make retro ‘cool’ and create a station that will be the destination station for listeners. We look forward to delighting listeners with innovative content and presenters that will be an industry first on radio."
HT Media already operates Fever FM in the five metros of Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai and Kolkata. Fever FM enjoys a strong leadership position in Delhi, Bengaluru (non-Kannada space) and Kolkata and is the fastest growing radio station in Mumbai.
In Uttar Pradesh, the company will launch stations in Lucknow, Kanpur, Agra, Aligarh, Gorakhpur, Bareilly and Allahabad.
HT Media, which operates Fever and Radio Nasha, is the publisher of Mint.
