Bollywood and entertainment are on top in Google’s just-released annual most searched list “Zeitgeist 2012" for India. The Salman Khan starrer Ek Tha Tiger was the most searched movie while the most searched person was former Big Boss housemate and porn star Sunny Leone. Not surprisingly, Delhi was the most searched city on Google.

According to Google’s Zeitgeist 2012 movie list for India, Ek Tha Tiger was followed by Rowdy Rathore with sequels like Jannat 2, Housefull 2 and Raaz 3 making up the rest of the list. Vicky Donor and Barfi, though commercially successful, were at the lower end of the list.

Among people, Bollywood actors dominated the list. Rajesh Khanna and Yash Chopra, who passed away this year, were among the most searched people while Poonam Pandey and Sherlyn Chopra, both famous for posting suggestive pictures on micro-blogging site Twitter, are also the most searched names on Google.

The search for cities followed a predictable order with Delhi taking the top spot followed by Bangalore, Mumbai and Chennai. Kerala, Taj Mahal, Wagah Border, Vaishno Devi and Amarnath are the top five most searched travel destinations.

Local places were also a category for Google search terms of the year. Yamuna expressway in Uttar Pradesh is the most searched for local place. Ramlila Maidan, which gained popularity thanks to Anna Hazare’s public rallies, also figures in this list along with IIT Mumbai, Freedom Park Bangalore and Delhi Zoo.

The Sensex was the most searched news event on Google while Vilasrao Deshmukh’s death and Hurricane Sandy take second and third spot respectively. Other notable events include cartoonist Aseem Trivedi’s arrest over a cartoon, Pranab Mukherjee’s becoming the 13th President and Anna Hazare’s protest against graft and anti-corruption.
