Mumbai: Viacom18 Media Pvt. Ltd, an equal joint venture of Viacom Inc. and Network18, will launch a new music channel called Pepsi MTV Indies in February, in which soda pop maker PepsiCo India will be the main advertiser.

Although the new TV station will focus primarily on music, it will also broadcast films and art and comedy shows, the firm said on Wednesday.

Coke Studio@MTV, the music channel’s popular programme sponsored by PepsiCo’s rival Coca-Cola India, will continue, said Aditya Swamy, business head, MTV India.

The new channel’s programmes will also include mood-based, user-generated playlists, and showcase artists performing on the streets of India. The channel will be available on digital platforms across devices.
