Viewership bonanza

The third edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) kicked off on a bigger note compared with IPL 2, with eight million people tuning in to watch the inaugural match between the Kolkata Knight Riders and the Deccan Chargers, a 16% higher viewership compared with the first match in IPL 2.

The average time spent for the match also went up by 42% compared with last year’s inaugural match of the championship played in South Africa. Almost 22% more women viewers watched the match compared with the last time.
