New Delhi: YouTube, the video-sharing website operated by Google Inc, has been flooded with original content in 2016, and content creators like The Viral Fever (TVF) and All India Bakchod (AIB) even made it to YouTube’s top trending videos for 2016 released as part of YouTube Rewind, a video series created by popular platform to recap each year’s viral videos, events, memes and music.

“We’re excited to announce the top trending videos, music videos and Bollywood trailers from 2016, according to time spent watching, sharing, commenting, liking and more. From Kapil Sharma’s TV show episode which featured Salman Khan, to creators like TVF, AIB and behind the scenes video of actor Shah Rukh Khan prepping for his film Fan, this year’s top trending videos represent the amazing variety of creativity shared on YouTube everyday," the company said in a statement.

Collectively, the top 10 videos have 70 million views and the channels which create them have more than 45 million subscribers who tune in regularly to watch the funny, insightful, entertaining content they create/upload, Youtube added.

In music, 2016 seemed to be all about Katrina Kaif and Sidharth Malhotra’s chartbuster Kala Chashma from the movie, Baar Baar Dekho, with 45 million views, followed by Badshah’s Kar gayi chull from the movie Kapoor & Sons. Both music and entertainment continue to be popular content genres on YouTube.

Long format ads for a primarily digital-first audience, led the YouTube Leaderboard 2016 from an advertising perspective. Several brands chose to create long format ads for a primarily digital-first audience. In fact, seven out of top 10 most watched ads in 2016 were over 90 seconds long. And audiences too were willing to invest their time and attention on ads that are narrative-driven.

#Dettolsheronkepanje was the most viewed ad for 2016 with close to 13 million views, and #Ranveerchingreturns and Amazon’s#ApniDukaan came in second and third.
