Sumangali’s cable licence cancelled
Sumangali expected to wind up business within 15 days
Chennai: The ministry of information and broadcasting has cancelled the license of Kalanithi Maran-owned Sumangali Cable Vision to run cable TV services in Chennai.
Sumangali is expected to wind up their business within 15 days. It will have to run scroll on TV screens asking viewers to switch over to other operators.
Vittal Sampathkumaran, managing director of Sumangali, did not respond to calls nor phone messages.
After Tamil Nadu Arasu Cable TV Corp. was revived by chief minister J. Jayalalithaa in September 2011, Sumangali lost market share to the state-run cable TV distributor.
