New Delhi: Japanese firms Daikin and Works Application made the highest offers to graduating students of BITS Pilani. The university, which started its placement season in August, completed the placements for the graduating class of 2017 recently.

“While Daikin made an offer of over Rs60 lakh for a manufacturing position in Belgium, Works Application made offers for software developer positions based in Tokyo,” said G. Balasubramanian, chief placement officer, India and Dubai, BITS Pilani. More than one student including a Master’s student has been offered jobs by the Tokyo-headquartered software enterprise.

The next biggest offer, of about Rs57 lakh, came from Flow Traders, an Amsterdam-based fintech company.

Students from the computer sciences and software departments as well as those in core engineering disciplines received offers from 646 recruiters across the four campuses of BITS, including those in Goa, Dubai and Hyderabad. Offers for core engineering positions rose to 349 compared to last year’s 286. “Despite more enrolees in IT related disciplines, there was a dip in IT-related recruitments,” informed Balasubramanian. While nearly 38.83% graduates were placed in IT-related positions, 20.3% opted for analytics and computing while 13.37% preferred job profiles related to electronics.

Other prominent recruiters included Nutanix (Rs35 lakh), Schlumberger (Rs32 lakh), Arsecium (Rs29.5 lakh), Oracle (Rs22 lakh), Microsoft (Rs21 lakh) and Samsung (Rs20 lakh).
