The presence of some countries at the Nuclear Security Summit in Seoul next week may be regarded with a jaundiced eye by others. The process is aimedat policing the use of nuclear materials and preventing smuggling—all very topical given the global uproar surrounding Iran’s nuclear activities. The Persian Gulf country is not one of the 53 countries that willbe participating.
While the security summit process is not intended to be a permanent one, India is making progress in its bid to establish a Global Centre for Nuclear Energy Partnership. It should take care not to replicate protocols that are already in place, adding unnecessary layers of red tape.
