I had just 20 minutes to spare on a Saturday evening while in Greater Kailash Part 1 to collect the number plates of my new car. A right turn took me into the M-block market where I thought of buying a present for my son who turns 3 next week.
Few steps into the crowded market and then a loud noise that shook me to my roots. For sometime, things came to a standstill and then came the realization. There was an explosion that not only triggered panic but left all shoppers dazed.

Around ten shops were damaged in the explosion that took place at around 6:40 pm (IST). The bombs were hidden in a dustbin, reports suggest.
Around the same time, a series of explosions took place in New Delhi. Central Delhi’s busy shopping markets – Karol Bagh where a Compressed Natural Gas cylinder (CNG) exploded and the central park in Connaught Place were the targets.
The police swung into action immediately and the area was cordoned off. My colleague Mary Ercilia Gayen was sipping hot coffee at Barista in Greater Kailash 1 while she felt the building shake.
Thankfully, both Mary and I are safe. I managed to collect the new number plates for my new car. But, my son’s birthday present still remains due and I don’t know when I will be able to muster courage to venture into M-block market in Greater Kailash Part 1 again.
