Mahindra Two Wheelers gets international patents for its four indigenously developed technologies
Mumbai: Mahindra Two Wheelers Ltd, the scooter and motorcycle making arm of Mahindra and Mahindra Ltd, recently obtained international patents for its four indigenously developed technologies, the company said in a statement on Monday.
These include the fuel gauge system, the automatic ignition cut-off, the distance-to-empty fuel system, and the engine immobilizer system incorporated in the current and future range of Mahindra Two Wheelers’ products.
While the engine immobilizer provides an effective anti-theft solution, the distance-to-empty system, along with the fuel gauge, helps the rider estimate the distance the vehicle will cover using the fuel remaining in the tank when it hits reserve. The automatic ignition cut-off saves fuel during vehicle idling conditions.
“With our in-house technologies getting international patents, we are reaffirming our commitment to offer best-in-class technology and innovative products to meet customers unmet needs. The incorporation of these technologies into our range of two-wheelers differentiate us from our competitors and is creating significant consumer demand," said Viren Popli, executive vice-president at Mahindra Two Wheelers.
Mahindra entered the two-wheeler market in 2008 with the acquisition of the Pune-based Kinetic Motors Ltd. In April-October, Mahindra sold 98,312 units compared with 69,827 units in the year-ago period, according to the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers.
