Texmaco is hopeful of securing licence from the government to start producing defence hardware in partnership with Russia's JSC Rosoboronexport
Kolkata: Railway wagon maker Texmaco Rail and Engineering Ltd is hopeful of securing licence from the government to start producing defence hardware in partnership with Russia’s JSC Rosoboronexport.
With the sector being opened up for private companies, Texmaco is “very keen" to get into it, said chairman Saroj K. Poddar at the company’s annual general meeting. “Acche din" or good times, hadn’t arrived yet for wagon manufacturers, according to Poddar. Texmaco’s current order book is the worst in “living memory", he said, adding that the firm had received orders for only 1,300 wagons in the current year compared with 2,300 last year.
