Suzlon Energy’s Senvion unit wins 4 UK wind-power orders

The project is due for completion in fall 2016, and the deal includes a 20-year service contract

Lima: Suzlon Energy Ltd’s Senvion unit won four wind-turbine orders in the UK totalling 63.5 megawatts.

The biggest was for 14 Senvion MM82 machines totalling 28.7 megawatts at the Penmanshiel wind farm developed by Renewable Energy Systems Ltd, Pune, India-based Suzlon said on Monday in an emailed statement. The project is due for completion in fall 2016, and the deal includes a 20-year service contract.

Another seven MM82 machines were sold to the New Albion wind farm in Northamptonshire being developed by John Laing Plc. Installation will begin in January, with the project fully operational a year later. The transaction includes a 15-year service plan.

The other two deals are for 10.2 megawatts of 3.4M104 machines at the Reaps Moss project near Bacup in Lancashire by InfraRed Capital Partners, and for 10.25 megawatts of MM92 devices at the Watford Lodge wind farm near Daventry, Northamptonshire, by Broadview Energy Ltd. Those projects have 20-year and 15-year service contracts, respectively. Bloomberg
