UTV Ignition game set for April debut in Japan

Mumbai: UTV Ignition, a gaming unit of UTV Software Communications said on Wednesday it plans to launch its flagship El Shaddai, a third person action adventure game, in Japan and expects at least $10 million in revenue.

The company said it has signed merchandising, licensing and co-marketing deals for the game, developed out of its studio in Japan, with two local firms, Edwin and Bandai Toys.

El Shaddai will retail on gaming consoles supported by Sony and Microsoft at about $81 per unit, UTV Ignition said, expecting the combined sales in Japan to cross 500,000 units.

The revenue from game sales through consoles will be in addition to the expected $10 million.

The company said it is also at the final stages of closing a co-publishing deal in the US and Europe.
