RINL to invest Rs38,500 crore in Vizag projects

Hyderabad: Rashtiya Ispat Nigam Ltd (RINL), which runs the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant, on Monday said that it had signed a pact with the Andhra Pradesh government to invest 38,500 crore on various projects in Visakhapatnam.

The time frame for the investments was not disclosed. The investments would include expansion of the steel plant’s capacity to 11.5-12 million tonnes per annum along with its modernization at an estimated investment of 25,000 crore.

RINL would also undertake construction of coke oven and other projects at a cost of 3,400 crore and establish a slurry pipeline and pellet plant in a joint venture with National Mineral Development Corporation and others at an investment of 6,100 crore.

Separately, the company will also put in 330 crore in establishing a transmission line.

The announcement was made at the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Partnership Summit on Monday.

The memorandum of understanding entails the Andhra Pradesh government aiding the company’s participation in future projects in the state.
