New Delhi: Looking to tap the growing e-commerce market in the country, Finnish mobile handset giant Nokia on Monday launched its online shopping website, ‘NokiaShop’, in association with Indiatimes Shopping.

Claiming that it is the first mobile handset-maker to sell its phones directly to consumers over the internet, Nokia said the website would offer its entire range of devices, including smartphones, dual-SIM, touch-and-type and QWERTY handsets, besides accessories.

It added that the portal would enable customers to buy handsets at best buy prices directly from the manufacturer (Nokia) without the need of any dealer or reseller in between.

NokiaShop will deliver orders to customers within three days in all metros and mini-metros.

Given the potential of the e-commerce industry, Indiatimes and Nokia are confident of high growth in the mobile phones category within the next two quarters, the statement added.

The domestic e-commerce market is expected to cross 46,000 crore in the 2011 calendar year, according to an Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI) report.

“This partnership is a step further in our aim to bring more offline brands to the online space. With our brand strength, resources, knowledge and credibility in the e-commerce space, we are confident of providing Nokia the right platform to connect with its users," Times Internet chief executive officer (CEO) Rishi Khiani said.

Consumers will have the option of making payment either through credit card or in cash on delivery.

In addition, they have the option of converting their payment amount into interest-free EMIs spread over a three or six-month period.
