IBM launches new iDataPlex system for Web 2.0 computing

New Delhi: IBM has launched a new server, iDataPlex, to address the needs of companies using Web 2.0-style computing to operate data centres containing thousands of servers.

The new servers will double the number of systems that can run in a single rack while consuming 40% less power. Its USP will be to ensure that as consumers demand richer content and more immediate access to Web-based applications, it will allow Internet, online gaming and social networking companies, as well as service providers, to scale rapidly to meet this emergent need.
