New Delhi: Two leading management institutes on Wednesday claimed 100% success for their summer placements, receiving offers from domestic and international companies across domains.

While Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Lucknow managed to provide summer placements for 464 students in less than five days, XLRI Jamshedpur placed over 360 students in less than four days.

IIM Lucknow said it achieved 100% summer placements for its 30th batch of 464 students in a record time of 4.5 days. “The recruitment drive saw participation from 164 domestic and international recruiters," the IIM said.

The top four segments based on roles offered were sales and marketing, finance, consulting and business development. The rest came from domains such as operations, supply chain, general management, IT, market research, analytics and human resources.

Some of the top recruiters were e-commerce leaders Amazon.com Inc., Flipkart, Aditya Birla Group, consulting companies like Accenture Plc, McKinsey and Co. Inc. and Boston Consulting Group Inc., financial firms like Goldman Sachs Group Inc., ICICI Bank Ltd, Deutsche Bank and Citibank, and consumer firms like Hindustan Unilever Ltd and ITC Ltd, the business school said.

In consulting domain, Accenture, Alvarez and Marsal Holdings Llc, AT Kearney Inc., BCG, Deloitte Llp and McKinsey made a total of 37 offers, with McKinsey and BCG being the top two recruiters.

At XLRI, the entire batch of 2014-16 obtained internship opportunities within 3.5 days. The recruitment drive saw 105 companies participating in the process, making 385 offers to 365 students. All students of the batch received paid internship, the highest stipend offered being Rs150,000 per month. The median stipend for the entire batch was at Rs55,000 per month.

The top recruiters on campus, in terms of numbers, were technology solutions provider Altisource Portfolio Solutions SA (12) and telecom firm Vodafone India (10). Hindustan Uniliver, ITC and Microsoft Corp. hired nine students each. “We are overwhelmed with the 100% success in summer placements," said E. Abraham, director of XLRI.

With the economy showing signs of improvement, human resource companies have said that the job scenario will improve in 2014-15. A June survey by HR consulting company ManpowerGroup Inc. said with the Indian business environment showing signs of improvement, companies are back in hiring mode. Opportunities for job seekers are expected to grow stronger as emphasis is placed on improving business growth and employment generation, the survey said.
