Mumbai: Jaguar Land Rover India, the local arm of British luxury car maker JLR Plc, launched the Jaguar XJ Ultimate sedan in India on Tuesday.

The model will be available in two engine options—a five-litre petrol engine and a three-litre diesel engine, the company said in a statement.

The sedans have been priced at 1.87 crore and 1.78 crore (ex-showroom, Mumbai), respectively.

The Jaguar product range in India includes the XF, XFR, XKR, XKR-S and XJ. The Land Rover range includes the Freelander 2, Discovery 4, Range Rover Evoque, Range Rover Sport and a new Range Rover.

About 25,000 luxury cars were sold in India in 2012, an increase of 25% over the previous year, and is expected to touch 35,000 by end 2013, according to IHS Automotive, a sales, research and forecast firm. JLR sold 2,393 units in India in 2012, up 32% from the year earlier.
