Puma Social, a concept introduced by sports brand Puma in New York, US, three years ago, has now come to India—and Bangalore. “The idea of the Social Club is to bring to big cities cultural events, and a place to hang out at," says Rajiv Mehta, managing director, Puma India, adding that the club has gone a step further in India by creating a permanent space for activities.

At almost 4,000 sq. ft, the space above the Puma sustainable store will work as a daytime café and night-time club and the brand hopes it will be a place for its young consumers to hang out, meet and party. “Since the club is an extension of the sustainable store, the designers have made an effort to see that the décor is upcycled and reflects the eco-friendly leanings of the space," says Mehta.

The Puma Social Club opens on Friday with a three-day Electronic Dance Music (EDM) festival featuring artistes from across the country. Artistes will also collaborate for performances.

Each of the three days will have different themes and artistes. The list includes Sam from State of Bengal, a veteran in global electronic music circles, Dualist Inquiry, Jiver Singh, Sandunes, Tuhin Mehta, Anil Chawla, Teddy Boy Kill and Masta Justy. “Bangalore loves EDM and yet if you ask where the EDM parties are happening, only one or two events in a month will emerge," says Mehta.

Next weekend, there will be a stand-up comedy act. “There will be at least two comedy acts a month, along with regular music nights hosted by local DJs and musicians," says Mehta. We are also looking at being a space for theatre acts and any other live shows that will keep the audience engaged," he adds.

7.30pm (Friday and Saturday) and 5.30pm (Sunday). Puma sustainable store, 100 Feet Road, Indiranagar. Tickets, 400 per night and 1,000 for all three nights, available on www.pumashop.in/socialclub.
