NEW DELHI :

With many performances and shows planned over four days at the India Art Fair (IAF), which started on Thursday, you are bound to be dazzled. But be sure to view these:

u Leena Kejriwal’s M.I.S.S.I.N.G. series will be hard to miss. The towering silhouettes by this Kolkata-based artist depict young girls against the urban skyline. The installation is meant to acknowledge, and mourn, the disappearance of millions of women from the world every day.

uDayanita Singh’s File Room museum, which will be put together by the artist using photographs from her own work and some taken by her mother, Nony Singh. Dayanita will also present a performance around her work at the IAF.

u Portuguese artist João Garcia Miguel’s daily performance, supported by Lisbon-based Perve Galeria, spanning at least an hour. At the end of each day, the result of the “happening" will be kept on the fair premises—until the artist reassembles it to make a new work the day after.

u Bangalore-born Tallur L.N.’s Path Finder consists of the statue of a male figure seated in a meditative pose, being splashed all over by wet clay by a spinning car tyre. Wry comedy meets gut-wrenching conceptual art.

u Sindhuja Parthasarathy’s Tavam is a photograph series that documents the Indian transgender community’s quest for gender identity.

u Contemporary Chinese artist Ye Hongxing’s strikingly titled If You Meet Buddha on the Road, Kill Him! 2013-2014. Using thousands of children’s stickers, Ye plays with the mandala symbol to create a kaleidoscopic work. Bonus points if you can identify the social, political and economic nuances embedded in the piece.

The India Art Fair is on till 2 February at the NSIC Exhibition Grounds, Okhla, Delhi. Click here for timings, tickets and details.
