Light & Life Academy
Till 18 November
Ooty-based Light & Life Academy presents an exhibition of photographs by 28 students who graduated from the academy with a postgraduate diploma in professional photography in July. The collection covers a range of subjects, from portraits, places, architecture, food and still life to automobiles and industries. The exhibition will also include a presentation on Photokina, a high-profile international fair held every year in Germany. 9am-6.30 pm. Piano recital and book launch
Girish Karnad will launch ‘On a High Note’, a book featuring Paul Fernandes’ musical illustrations and Peter Colaco’s text on music. Both have previously collaborated in another popular book , ‘Peter Colaco’s Bangalore’. The launch of ‘On a High Note’ will be preceded by a recital by Nina D’ Silva, a German solo pianist and chamber musician. 7.30 pm. The Park, 14/7, Mahatma Gandhi Road (2559 4666). A Kannada play set in contemporary India, playwright Vivek Shanbhag unveils Bahumukhi in multiple layers: It is about a world that unfolds before a journalist who goes in search of a sensational story. In the process, the dividing line between perception and reality is put to test. The 90-minute play is directed by S. Surendranth. 7.30pm. Nacho Blanco Flamenco Dance Group
The Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), in collaboration with the embassy of Spain in India, brings the renowned Nacho Blanco Flamenco Dance troupe to the city. The seven-member group boasts a rich repertoire brought alive by dancers such as Nacho Blanco and Eli Ayala and a host of musicians, including Juan Cortes on the guitar and Jose de Mode on percussion. Raul Levia and Manuel Zambullo will present a medley of songs. The 75-minute programme will also have solo dance numbers and music. 7pm.
