Make-up Diaries
Make-up artist Sara Capela of Fat Mu, Mumbai, prepared Fiona’s skin by using a Boots moisturizer on the body and let it sink in for a couple of minutes. She then covered blemishes using Kryolan’s Dermacolor palette—camouflage make-up to cover marks. For a golden glow, she then applied a mixture of baby oil mixed with bronzing powder and gold powder, both by Kryolan. To highlight the shoulders, collarbone and legs she used Metallic Glow, a liquid shimmer by Faces.
After cleansing and toning the face, Capela applied a good quantity of Garnier Skin Naturals moisturizer, “because I wanted the skin to look dewy and hydrated, not matt". After that, she used a combination of a tinted moisturizer by Stagecolor and a light foundation—Skin Tint by Cosmetics à la carte. She covered dark areas around the mouth, eyes and nose with Kryolan’s Dermacolor palette. A Supracolor palette from Kryolan was used for highlighting and contouring. Only the T-zone was lightly powdered so the make-up would set, but the skin still looked hydrated.
For the eyes, Capela drew a fine line close to the lashes for definition with Fluidline, a black gel liner by MAC, and used Maybelline’s Define-A-Lash mascara in black. Neutral brown eyeshadows in beige, honey and taupe by Ben Nye were used to contour the eyes and Capela used a gold eyeshadow by MAC under the brow bone and in the inner corners of the eyes. Capela contoured Fiona’s cheeks and highlighted the apples of the cheeks with Metallic Glow by Faces. On the lips she used a nude pencil from MAC, topped with a peachy gloss by Onyx.
She changed Fiona’s lip colour through the shoot; she created a pink lip by using a cream blush by Ben Nye on the lips topped with Elizabeth Arden’s Eight Hour Cream. For a pop of coral on the mouth, she used MAC’s Morange lipstick, also topped with Eight Hour Cream.
To transform Fiona’s eyes from nude to smoky, she blended a black Ben Nye eyeshadow on the lid and a brown one on the crease, adding a black pencil by Make Up Factory on the inner rim.
Capela kept prepping Fiona’s skin with a body moisture spray by The Sanctuary to make the skin glow.
