Cine Darbaar, the Delhi-based group of cineastes, is collaborating with the American Center to organize an Earth Day Mela at the American Center from 21-22 April. Alongside the Cine Darbaar staple of film screenings and workshops, the event will feature puppetry performances by the legendary Dadi Pudumjee and an Earth Craft Bazaar. Earth Day is on 22 April.

A couple of workshops, one on puppetry and another on making musical instruments using natural materials, will follow. The first day will end with a puppet play directed by Dadi Pudumjee, based on Shel Silverstein’s book for children, The Giving Tree.

On 22 April, watch Dolphin Tale (2011), a sweetly told account of a dolphin’s rescue by a band of strangers, including a marine biologist, a prosthetics doctor, and an intrepid little boy. The film stars Ashley Judd and Morgan Freeman.

There will be an Earth Craft Bazaar on both days, as well as an Earth Café that will cater to everyone’s taste buds.

A photo-ID card will be required for entry.
