Directors of two of the forthcoming comedy shows tell us the formula to make people laugh

Today’s show is about the stand-up comedy and entertainment scene in India. It is simple to get someone to cry. Just smack him over the head with a dumbell. But how do you get people to laugh? Let’s look for some answers from the experts.

First up we have Mrinal Dhar, director of the upcoming comedy show Combo-Comedy that features stand-up acts by Sahil Kapoor and Pranav Midha and a play titled Ishq Da Syaapa, Daughter -In-Law Weds Papa. Adding local flavour the scripts of both the segments have what they call: “Dilli wali Punjabi". But what’s so funny about that. Dhar tells us more about the show, how do they make the script using local observations and the future of stand-up comedy in India.

Our next guest is creative director of Humour Me productions Dhruv Sachdeva who will be presenting his show Dinner for Pricks. It’s set in a fictional French restaurant and what follows is a burst of situational comedy. Sachdeva talks about how the entertainment is now moving beyond the confinement of the auditoriums and idea behind Dinner for Pricks.

Combo–Comedy will be held at the Alliance Francaise de, on 6 April from 6:30pm onwards. While if you want to dine at the fictional restaurant of the Dinner for Pricks, you can go to The Grand New Delhi, Vasant Kunj, Phase II on 7 April. The show timings are 6pm to 8pm and 9pm to 11pm.
