Black Friday is the day after Thanksgiving Day, and widely regarded as the beginning of the Christmas shopping season and many companies and e-commerce sites give huge discounts on gadgets. The way discounts on gadgets work depends on the e-commerce partner offering a lower-than-usual price at its end, and when companies correct the prices of certain gadgets. If you are waiting to see whether companies will extend Black Friday discounts in India, from the information we have received so far, eBay will be conducting a Black Friday sale, linked to its Global Easy Buy website. At present, there is no confirmation from Amazon India and Flipkart about their plans for Black Friday. In the meanwhile, here are some gadgets which are available at lower-than-usual market prices today. If you are looking to splurge, these are worth considering.

Laptop: Lenovo Yoga 300

27,990 on Flipkart ( 30,490 before discount )

The Yoga 300 is an extremely good option for most basic users, be it for office work or as an entertainment PC at home. It’s flexible hinge design is a bonus that allows the display to be flipped backwards and used as a tablet, or as a stand to prop it up. This sort of design has become quite popular in the Yoga laptop series. There is 500 GB of storage, HDMI, USB and LAN connectivity options. It runs Windows 10, comes with a one-year subscription to Office 365 suite. The battery lasts 6-7 hours on one charge with ease.

Smartphone: LG Nexus 5X

24,999 on Amazon ( 29,999 before discount )

LG Nexus 5X, in our opinion, was overpriced for what it offered. Perhaps LG and Google realized the same, which is why the price cut. It fits into most hands comfortably despite the 5.2-inch display. The bright display has a resolution of 1920x1080pixels. The 5X offers smooth performance, has an accurate fingerprint reader and a USB Type-C port that charges the phone quickly. The Nexus 5X runs the latest Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) operating system and will continue to get super-quick updates from Android.

PC: Intel Compute Stick

9,998 on Flipkart ( 12,999 before discount )

Intel’s Compute Stick is slightly bigger than a traditional USB stick but packs in enough power capable of running a full-fledged 64-bit Windows operating system. It is powered by the same Intel Atom quad-core processor that powers up a number of low-cost laptops including the Asus EeeBook X205TA notebook. It has 2 GB of RAM, 32 GB of internal storage and has a micro SD slot to accommodate another 32 GB. It weighs a mere 100 grams, which is ten times less than what the lightest laptop weighs. The real highlight of this PC is that you can plug it directly into a monitor or a TV, and when paired with a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse, you have a full-fledged PC anywhere at home, a friend’s home or even in the hotel room.

Smartwatch: LG Watch Urbane

23,999 on Flipkart ( 35,000 before discount )

LG Watch Urbane’s wide stainless steel dial and stitched leather strap give it a classy look. It’s also water resistant which makes it more durable. The dial is circular in shape and has a 1.3-inch OLED multi-touch display with a resolution of 320x320pixels. It runs Android Wear, a version of Android OS designed for smartwatches and other wearable devices. You can change watch faces, install apps, use it to see who is calling and initiate a call. If you felt the price was on the higher side earlier, the new price tag will probably make this worth considering.

Smartphone: Motorola Moto Turbo

31,999 on Flipkart ( 41,999 before discount )

The Moto Turbo is a premium smartphoone with a ballistic nylon fabric material on the back panel. It has a groove like design that looks good and is also water resistant. The smartphone’s robust build is backed by fairly powerful specs, a sharp and vivid 5.2-inch AMOLED display and a 3,900mAh battery that lasts more than a day and half. It runs Android 5.1 with plain Android interface over it and can handle every major game and app in the Google Play Store with consummate ease. The 21-megapixel camera is good despite the auto-focus and there is 64GB of internal storage for your photos, apps and games.
