Like every month, June started with a series of new apps and games being launched on various subjects. There is a new social media network for people looking for spiritual motivation, and then there are apps which can make your phone’s lockscreen lively. For fans of endless runner games, there is a unique runner game where the runner is Portugal and Read Madrid footballer Cristiano Ronaldo and he can shoot at targets while running. The Windows Mobile platform, as we have seen over the past few months, is still being ignored by most app developers.
DIY Locker: DIY Photo

Most Android phones have a very basic lockscreen. You get the notifications window and you get to unlock by putting in a pattern, pin or password. DIY Locker makes this exercise a bit livelier by allowing users to add multiple photos in the various elements of the home screen, giving it a collage-like look and feel. You can add photos into the small circles which usually carry an alphabet or number. It also provides options like notification window, reminders and weather update on the lockscreen. You can also decide what shortcut you want to see on the lockscreen.

This is a sci-fi racing game set in space where you can select a spacecraft based on its strengths and even upgrade it. Controls offer plenty of flexibility. You can use the onscreen control for turning the aircraft right or left or simply rotate the device in a specific direction. The game offers speed boosters but they are separately laid out as special tracks so you can’t boost your speed at will but only when the tracks show up and your craft is over them. The game captures the planets and star studded background brilliantly. The challenging gameplay and the unique settings make it a fresh addition to the racing genre.

Jiyo is a unique social media app developed by spiritual guru Deepak Chopra and published by Body Mind Me Inc. for people who feel spiritual well-being is the key to happiness. The app asks users sign up so they can access articles and stories form popular wellness and yoga experts like Sarah Platt and Sonia Jones. Users can also take part in tasks to see if the exercise is helping their body and mind. The objective is to connect and share your ideas with like-minded people and ultimately identify your strengths. You can share posts, and like and follow other users as in a social networking app.
Cristiano Ronaldo: Kick’n’Run

This is a first-of-its-kind runner game where your runner is Real Madrid centre forward Cristiano Ronaldo. The gameplay is similar to the Subway Surfer. The objective is to avoid a moving vehicle or some other runner running towards you. You can shoot at targets while running with a football and earn more points. If you are a fan of football and runner games, this is a lot more fun than Temple Run or Subway Surfer which haven’t really changed over the years.
