The Corporate Politics of Macbeth
9 February
Back-biting, dirty power plays, harassment in the office and crushed ambitions are just some of the things director Ranji David wants to talk about in his adaptation of William Shakespeare’s Macbeth. Contemporary office-goers will find resonances in the underhanded way the struggle for power plays out in the over 400-year-old story. David’s adaptation of Shakespeare’s play will be staged “in shadows". 1 hour.

In a fictional place, artists are banned from using colour on canvas. The story explores the rivalry between two artists, with a disciplinary officer in the art ministry watching this play out. The production, directed by Abhishek Saha, is 1 hour, 20 minutes.

Kriyative Theatre’s Ratnan Prapancha is based on the life and work of well-known Kannada writer G.P. Rajarathnam. Rajarathnam, who was known for his wit, wrote on Buddhism and Jainism and was a prolific writer of children’s books. 1 hour, 15 minutes.

Leap in Time and India Series

Goethe-Institut/Max Mueller Bhavan and Tasveer art gallery are presenting two exhibitions simultaneously. Leap in Time, on display at the Bhavan, showcases work by German photojournalists Erich Salomon and Barbara Klemm. Their photographs are historical documents that reveal details about the social, psychological and political aspects of the events they portray. The other exhibition, India Series, is on at Tasveer and displays Klemm’s photographs from her visit to India in the 1980s.
