Taiwanese company Acer has refreshed its Predator line-up of gaming laptops known for their mammoth display, bulky form factor and top-notch hardware. Dubbed as Predator 21X (GX21-71), the new notebook offers a 21-inch curved display, runs Windows 10 out of the box and will be driven by Intel’s top-of-the-line hardware.
The Predator 21X will start shipping in Europe before March 2017. Its price is yet to be announced.
The curved 21-inch display on Predator 21X is likely to provide better wide viewing angles than flat screen notebooks, built-in Tobii eye-tracking technology which uses infrared sensors and the software to add new ways of interaction in over 45 gaming titles such as Watch Dogs 2 and Deus Ex: Mankind Divided. The display offers a resolution of 2,560x1,080p and refresh rate of 120Hz.
What makes the Predator 21X one of the most powerful gaming rigs is Intel’s 7th gen Core i7 processor with 64GB RAM and two of Nvidia’s most advanced GeForce GTX 1080 GPUs. Based on Nvidia’s VR ready Pascal architecture, this is one of the most powerful GPUs available on any laptop yet.
One of the issues with powerful gaming machines is the amount of heat they generate. Acer has taken care of that with an advance cooling architecture comprising five cooling fans and nine heat dissipation pipes. The notebook offers 512GB of SSD in addition to 1TB of HDD storage.
The laptop comes with some exclusive gaming tools to enhance the experience. One of them, called Predator Sense, is a single interface from where one can customise the entire gaming experience such as over-clocking, controlling fan speed and modifying from light combinations in the keyboard. The other software called Xsplit GameCaster allows users to record and edit their graphic intensive gaming videos before one can live stream them on Twitch, YouTube or Daily Motion games.
For high-quality audio output, Acer has equipped it with four speakers and two sub-woofers powered by Dolby audio technology. Every unit of Predator 21X will come with a hard shell carrying case with ample room for its accessories and power cables.
