November and December is often the time of the year when people go on vacation. If you are planning on travelling with friends and family members but have not decided on a place yet, Google Trips app might come in handy. Google Flights can help keep an eye on deals and fluctuation in air ticket prices, while Yatra’s new data-friendly app Yatra Mini can help you buy tickets. This is how each of these apps can help you save a few bucks.
Travelling by air during holidays can be really expensive. Google’s new web tool Flights can help users find flights at the best available price. Flights works by sending users an email notification when the current prices of a particular flight the user has showed interest in is expected to expire. By booking tickets well in time, users can save a few bucks. It works by tracking price history and uses it to predict the next surge in ticket prices.
Google Trips is a free mobile app available for Android and iOS users. It serves as a multi-purpose travel assistant by helping users find new places, organise a trip and act as a guide once they are at the destination. It works closely with other Google apps such as Google Maps and Gmail app. The Maps integration allows users to search all places worth seeing in their proximity. Once a user has decided upon a place, it shows them more options such as things to do, places to dine, where to catch a bus or train, and what number to call in case of an emergency. Its key attraction is the offline mode which allows users to download everything on a city for offline access, and save up the cost incurred on using mobile data in another country.
Yatra Mini is a free travel app where one can book train and bus tickets and hotel rooms in advance. What makes it better than other similar booking apps on Android and iOS such as MakeMyTrip or Cleartrip is the minimalistic design which makes it usable on slow mobile networks. For booking rail tickets, users have to link their IRCTC account with the Yatra Mini account. The hotel booking feature shows the most economical options. By default it works in English but one can use it in Hindi by changing the language settings.
