The last two weeks have seen a number of new games and apps rolling out in the market. Microsoft’s popular PC classic Age of Empires was finally released on Android with visuals that look as good as some of the PC versions. Another PC game Lumino City is now available on Android. Google has released a food and services app called Areo, but it’s only available in Mumbai and Bengaluru now. For fitness enthusiasts, there is a new fitness app that focuses on healthy cooking.
Here are some other interesting new apps and games that were launched in the last few days.
ComicBlitz is a subscription service for comics and graphics novels. After making it on iOS a few months ago, the service has come to Android. The app has over 4,500 comic books from well-known international publishers in its library. While many of the comics can be accessed with a free membership, for full access you need to pay a monthly subscription fee of $7.99 (approximately Rs514). You can download up to 1GB of comics and access them anytime in the offline mode. Readers can zoom in on pages for better view.
This is a unique app which can check and correct spellings and grammar in every line typed by you on your phone. So every time you open the keyboard to type, the app adds a green icon at one corner of the screen. Once the typing is over, you can tap on the icon and it will scan the text for errors. If there are errors, the icon turns red and a correction page will show up at the lower end of the screen with corrections and suggestions. It is free to use but needs internet connection to work.
RunTasty-Healthy Recipe Book
A recipe app for cooking healthy food, RunTasty has been developed by the team behind the popular fitness app Runtastic. The app has over 40 recipes approved by professional dieticians. The recipes are divided into categories such as fish & seafood, dairy-free, vegan, sugar-free and gluten-free. One can use a recipe by following the instructions in text or by watching the step-by-step videos, The app is free from advertisements. Users can rate recipes and save their favourite ones for instant access.
Popular point-and-click adventure game Lumino City for PC and console is now available on Android smartphones too. Winner of BAFTA awards for its visuals, the game’s landscape and buildings and characters are made of paper. Users get to play as a young girl Lumi, who is looking for the Lumino City, where her grandfather is held captive. The progress depends on exploring the city and solving a series of puzzles involving strange characters.
Transformers: Forged to Fight
This is an action game based in popular comics and movies on the Transformers franchise. Players are entrusted with the task of building a team of Transformers and guiding them through a series of arena-based combats. You can acquire any Transformer you want using in-game currency. As you progress, the game provides them. You can get more by paying real cash. It is a fun-filled action game involving hand-to-hand combat made for Transformers’ fans.
