If the wine list at the restaurants Toscano and Café Noir has been the highlight of your visits at The Collection, UB City’s luxury mall, then the opening of a new wine store in the same mall is likely to be good news for you. Managed by Thierry Jasserand, who runs Café Noir, Winez and More, which opened recently, is a small store on the second level of the mall. It stocks bottles of most wines served at Toscano and Café Noir.
While 80% of the stock consists of Four Seasons wines (an in-house brand of United Spirits Ltd), the store also has a host of labels imported by United Spirits from South Africa, California, New Zealand and Australia.
“If you like what you taste, it’s good wine. I personally like red wine from France and Indian white wines. For people who are just starting, I’d recommend something that is not too dry," says the Frenchman.
Thierry hopes to host several wine and cheese tasting sessions at Café Noir starting next month to promote the wines stocked at the store. He says that understanding wine is not as complicated as it is made out to be. He believes beginners could start with a sweet dessert wine and then go on to the dry wines. At the same time, he adds, “I’d say, taste a glass and then buy the bottle." Though the collection at Winez and More is limited to wines made or imported by Four Seasons, drop in for a chat with Thierry who talks passionately about wines and is willing to guide beginners through their wine choices.
The price of wine at Winez and More ranges from Rs500 to Rs3,000.
