Dibakar Banerjee and Kanu Behl on their new film, and catering to the new movie lover
Last year, for the Cannes Film Festival, director Kanu Behl and producer Dibakar Banerjee cut a grim, intense trailer for their film Titli. In this interview, they explain why they’ve now come out with a livelier, more darkly humorous trailer which they feel reflects the film’s themes of family and generational conflict better. They also discuss the marketing of ‘festival films’ and the emergence of a new cinephile audience in the country. Behl’s film, his first, is about a young man in east Delhi who longs to escape the clutches of his two car-jacking brothers and his manipulative father.
