New Delhi: Anurag Kashyap’s Raman Raghav 2.0, which opened to 3.98 crore in weekend collections, is inspired by the life and crimes of Raman Raghav, the notorious serial killer who haunted Mumbai city in the 1960s. Here are ten other films on serial killers.

1. Ek Villain (2014)- Mohit Suri’s romantic thriller featured Sidharth Malhotra as a hardened criminal whose sunshine girl (Shraddha Kapoor) is murdered by a serial killer played by Riteish Deshmukh. The film made more than 105 crore at the box office.

2. Kahaani (2012)- Saswata Chatterjee, played Bob Biswas, an undercover assassin, in the Vidya Balan-starrer directed by Sujoy Ghosh. The film won three National Awards and earned 51 crore at the box office.

3. Murder 2 (2011)- The Emraan Hashmi and Jacqueline Fernandez-starrer directed by Mohit Suri saw Prashant Narayanan play a psychopathic murderer. The film made close to 48 crore in box office collections.

4. The Stoneman Murders (2009)- The Manish Gupta film was based on the real-life serial killings of footpath dwellers in Mumbai who were stoned to death in their sleep. Featuring Kay Kay Menon and Arbaaz Khan, it made about 38 lakh in box office collections.

5. Samay: When Time Strikes (2003)- The Robby Grewal directed thriller saw Sushmita Sen play a cop solving a series of related murder cases. Jackie Shroff played the antagonist and the film earned about 83 lakh at the box office.

6. Baaz: A Bird In Danger (2003)- The multi-starrer featuring names like Sunil Shetty, Karisma Kapoor, Jackie Shroff and Dino Morea was directed by Tinnu Verma. It made slightly more than 1 crore at the box office.

7. Sangharsh (1999)- Ashutosh Rana played a serial killer in the Tanuja Chandra directed film. Featuring Akshay Kumar and Preity Zinta, the film collected 4 crore at the box office.

8. Kaun (1999)- Ram Gopal Varma’s psychological thriller was written by Anurag Kashyap and starred Urmila Matondkar and Manoj Bajpayee. It earned 4.5 crore at the box office.

9. Dushman (1998)- The psychological thriller directed by Tanuja Chandra saw Kajol play twins, one of whom is murdered by the mentally deranged Ashutosh Rana. The film made about 6 crore at the box office.

10. Red Rose (1980)- The psychological thriller starring Rajesh Khanna and Poonam Dhillon was a remake of Tamil movie Sigappu Rojakkal and reported to be loosely inspired by Raman Raghav’s crimes. The original film featured Kamal Haasan and Sridevi in the lead roles.
