Using hands-free is as distracting as talking directly on phone while driving

The notion that using a smartphone while driving is safer if the driver uses a Bluetooth hands-free earphone is not necessarily true. According to a research by University of Sussex, conversations are more visual than people tend to believe and the reaction time while one is talking is slower. Researchers found that the area of the road a driver using hands-free can concentrate on is four times smaller than what he can concentrate on when driving without any distraction.

75% of all internet traffic will come from online videos by 2020, claims study

Internet video traffic will account for 75% of all Internet traffic in India by 2020, a Cisco study claims. Currently, it accounts for 51% of all Internet traffic. The finding are part of Cisco’s 11th Annual Visual Networking Index Forecast which suggests that in the next five years, there will be 1.9 billion Internet connected devices in the country. The availability of faster broadband speeds of 12.9 Mbps, up from 51Mbps in 2015, will be one of the key factors behind the increase in online video consumption. Read more here.

LG launches TV which can drive away mosquitoes

Korean electronics major LG has come up with a TV named LG Mosquito Away TV which can drive away mosquitoes. The TV has been designed specifically for Indian users and has been vouched by International Institute of Biotechnology and Toxicology for being safe. The TV uses an ultra sonic device which generates sound wave at certain wavelength which is inaudible to humans but unbearable to mosquitoes. Consumers can buy LG Mosquito Away TV from LG Brand stores at 26900 (32-inch) and 47,500 (42-inch).

Smartphone sales growth to shrink to single digit in 2016

US based analyst Gartner’s recent report on smartphone market suggests that growth in smartphone sales will shrink by the end of 2016 to 7% from 14.4% in 2015 as smartphone ownership has reached a saturation point not just in markets like US, Europe and Japan, but China as well. The study points out that India is the most promising markets of all in terms of smartphone consumption, but due to low per capita income, people are mostly buying low-cost budget smartphones.

Coolpad launches gold edition of Note 3 Lite

Chinese phone maker Coolpad has come up with a limited edition gold coloured variant of its popular budget smartphone Coolpad Note 3 Lite in India. The smartphone will be available from 9 June only on Amazon.in at a slightly higher price tag of 7,499. The Coolpad Note 3, which is the most affordable smartphone with a finger-print sensor in India is currently retailing at 6,999. Coolpad Note 3 gold edition comes with a 5-inch 720p display, supports 4G and runs on MediaTek 6735 quad-core processor with 3GB RAM.
