Mumbai’s Jehangir Nicholson Art Foundation presents the largest ever show of his works in India and first major show after his death in 2004. It includes watercolours, oils, and paper cutouts—works that represent the breadth of techniques and materials he used.
Along with the exhibition, a book on his life and works was released in the first week of October, with an insightful essay by critic Ranjit Hoskote. Samant was, Hoskote writes, “a dislocated, but never disoriented pioneer".
The exhibition is on till 10 February at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya, Mahatma Gandhi Road, Mumbai. The works are not for sale.
