An even more bling set, a supersized lie-o-meter, a new judge, and better dancers
Thirty minutes at the Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa press conference at Mumbai’s Filmistan Studio on Monday evening were spent on screening behind-the-scenes footage of Madhuri Dixit-Nene and choreographer Remo D’Souza’s new wardrobe for the latest season of the reality dance competition show on Colors TV. Sure, we were awed by Dixit-Nene’s svelte figure in a sequinned pencil skirt in sea green. D’Souza looked as handsome as ever in his “casual" new clothes. But Anaita Shroff Adajania and Ken Ferns as “stylists" are only minor additions to the show’s opening credits.
Former hosts Manish Paul and Kapil Sharma have been replaced by actor and all-round funny guy Ranvir Shorey and season 6 winner Drashti Dhami. Does this mean the humour on the show will be better? Going by the preview, most probably yes. It wasn’t clear if stand-up comic Bharti Singh will be part of the show, but if she isn’t, we will miss her flirting with D’Souza.
The channel has retained dancer Lauren Gottlieb along with choreographer Salman Yusuff Khan from former seasons. The dancers are expected to be part of the show as “surprise" challengers to the contestants. But simply looking at the contestants list, the focus is likely to be on dance this season. For this season’s talent seems better overall than last season’s.
Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa season 7 will air at 9pm on Saturdays and Sundays on Colors TV from 7 June. For details, visit http://colors.in.com/in/jhalak-dikhhla-jaa or www.facebook.com/JhalakDikhhlaJaa.ColorsTv
