Banking tops PE charts in August
The year 2011 has so far seen private equity investments valued at $7.57 billion across 274 deals, a 25% jump over investments valued at $6.07 billion in the same period (Jan-Aug) last year. The average deal size increased from $31.1 million to $33.1 million. August aggregated investments valued at $522.4 million across 35 deals, compared with $1.29 billion across 31 deals in the same period last year. The banking, financial services and insurance sector topped the investment charts, accounting for 40% of the investments, with a deal value of $209.3 million.

Infrastructure, including power, followed with $102.3 million worth of investments (20%), while the retail sector came in third with an 11% share.
