Corus plans hike in steel prices as demand rises

London: Corus Group Ltd, the UK unit of India’s Tata Steel Ltd, plans to raise prices for the first time in more than a year as demand improves and raw-materials costs climb.

Prices for steel sections will advance by £25 per tonne, and steel-plate prices will rise by between £30 and £40 a tonne, London-based Corus said on Thursday in an emailed statement. The increases are the first in about a year, said Bob Jones, a company spokesman based in London.
