Investors are happy about the online shopping space in the country. With a user base of 100 mn, the e-commerce space is said to grow bigger. Last year, about $ 0.5mn was pumped into the sector, but investors today are worried about the huge expenses that goes into growing and maintaining these sites.

Padmaja Ruparel, president of India Angel Investment says that these ancillary companies are getting a lot of funding.

But, on the other hand, the new tax regime has made investments costlier for the start up’s. Now they will have to pay a tax on the money they receive from angel investors.

Deepti Chaudhary says, “ the promoter will have to give away 30% on the fund raised as tax liability because the fund raised is considered income".
