New Delhi: India’s crude oil production fell for an eighth month in nine in August, led by lower output by Oil and Natural Gas Corp. Ltd (ONGC), the nation’s largest explorer.
India pumped 2.77 million tonnes (mt) of oil last month, 2.6% less than a year earlier, the oil ministry said in a statement on Wednesday. Production by non-state explorers decreased 4.2% to 366,000 tonnes, the government said.
State-owned ONGC produced 2.1mt of oil in August, a 2.9% decline, the data showed. India’s natural gas output increased around 38% to 3.86 billion cu. m, according to the data.
Indian companies refined 3% more crude oil in August than a year earlier, the first rise since March.
