Mumbai: The benchmark Sensex closed down by nearly 74 points on the Bombay Stock Exchange on 14 December on profit selling by funds.
The Sensex, which lost over 271 points in the previous day’s trading, fell further by 73.56 points to close at 20,030.83.
The index touched the day’s high of 20,171.57 and a low of 19,936.49 points.
Similarly, the National Stock Exchange index Nifty also went down by 10.40 points to 6,047.70. It rose to a high of 6,078.55 and a low of 6,015.05 points during the day.
Marketmen said major players were offering a part of their holdings in view of a steep rise in stock prices during the current week.
A weakening trend in the US and other Asian stock markets influenced trading to some extent, they added.
