Monsoon brings along with it a host of high risk diseases such as jaundice, food poisoning, dysentery, typhoid, flu, cholera, cough and cold and poor digestion, leading to a higher number of health insurance claims, according to a recent report by Star Health and Allied Insurance. The insurer analysed the claims data during this season across regions for two years—2014-15 and 2015-16—to assess risks for diseases such as Dengue fever, Asthma, Fever, Bronchitis, Enteric fever and Malaria, and found a substantial increase in the number of claims due to these ailments.
