You can update the personal details on your Aadhaar card, online, by post or by visiting a local enrolment centre. To update mobile number and gender in your Aadhaar, you will have to visit an enrolment centre. All other details can be updated online or via mail. Mint explains how to do this.
Step 1:
If you want to update the details online, go to the Aadhaar Self Service Update Portal (https://ssup.uidai.gov.in/web/guest/update) and log in with your Aadhaar number and a one-time password (OTP). If you want to update your details via mail, you will have to fill up the form that is available at: https://uidai.gov.in/images/UpdateRequestFormV2.pdf.
Make sure you read all the instructions before you start filling up any of the forms. You can also visit your nearest enrolment centre with your documents to update the details.
Step 2:
Once you have the form, either as an e-form on a website or as a printout, you have to enter the updated details on it, such as: name, address, date of birth, gender, e-mail ID and mobile number. Review the form. Next, if your are updating online, attach a colour scanned image of the supporting documents—such as permanent account number (PAN) or passport. If you are mailing it, attach the copies with the form. If you are getting it done at an enrolment centre, carry copies of the documents.
Step 3:
In the last step online, you will be asked to choose a service provider—the agency that will process your application. For instance, you may choose Aegis or Karvy. Select one and press submit. If you are updating the details via mail, you will have to send the forms and documents to the addresses mentioned here: https://ssup.uidai.gov.in/ssup-instructions#DocumentSection. In case you wish to update your mobile number and your registered number is unavailable, then you will have to visit an enrolment centre.
