3.38: Shares of Eclerx Services Ltd fell 5.9% to ₹ 1500 after the company reported a 17.5% drop in its net profit to ₹ 53.18 crore as compared to ₹ 64.46 crore a year ago.
3:09pm: The Sensex has now shed 313 points or 1.12%. The Nifty has dropped 92 points or 1.09%.
Shares of Canara Bank fell 4% to Rs338. The bank reported a net profit of Rs612.96 crore, up 0.35% from a year ago to Rs610.83 crore. Gross NPA for the quarter was at 3.89% as compared to 3.35% a quarter ago.
2:30pm: The S&P BSE Sensex is now trading 256.68 points, or 0.92%, lower at 27,700.82. Vedanta (down 2.75%), ITC (down 2.74%) and Tata Steel (down 2.5%) were the three biggest losers among Sensex stocks.
2:22pm: Essar Oil Ltd jumps 4% to ₹ 108.50 ahead of its March quarter earnings later today. According to Bloomberg, the company may post a net profit of ₹ 459.50 crore, while net sales will be ₹ 17,971 crore.
2:14pm: Atlanta Ltd falls 5% to ₹ 61.20 after the company reported an 83.64% decline in net profit to ₹ 4.50 crore in the March quarter compared with ₹ 27.50 crore a year ago.
2:00pm: Infosys Ltd falls 1% to ₹ 2,021.50. The company said in a notice to BSE that it will hold annual general meeting (AGM) on 22 June. The company seeks shareholders approval to buy healthcare business for $100 million.
1:50pm: Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd is down 1.1% to ₹ 1,372.30. Bloomberg reported that the government has differed its decision on raising foreign institutional investment limit.
1:44pm: The major losers among Sensex stocks included ITC (down 2.74%), HDFC (down 2.69%) and Vedanta (2.43%).
1:43pm: The S&P BSE Sensex is now down 322.42 points, or 1.15%, to 27,635.08. The Nifty, meanwhile, is trading at 8,375.85, down 83.10 points, or 0.98%.
1:30pm: Bhel is trading 1.6% lower after the company today said it commissioned six hydro sets with a combined 736 MW capacity in 2014-15. This accounts for 100% of hydro power capacity addition in the country in the said fiscal.
1:00pm: The S&P BSE Sensex extends losses to trade 234.40 points, or 0.84%, lower at 27,723.10, while the Nifty is down 62.65 points, or 0.74%, to 8,396.30. Caution prevailed ahead of GDP data due on Friday.
12:25pm: Shares in HCL Technologies Ltd gain 2.24%, heading for their sixth consecutive daily gain. HCL Tech is up around 14% this month, recovering all of its 12.8% loss over March and April. Analysts say the current stock valuations are attractive.
12:06pm: The S&P BSE Sensex is now down 137.19 points, or 0.49%, to 27,820.31.
11:45am: Tata Motors shares fall 1.1% after traders cite caution ahead of January-March earnings due on Tuesday. Earnings could disappoint on the back of Jaguar Land Rover sales in China, says an analyst at a domestic brokerage.
11:13am: The S&P BSE Sensex falls 129.38 points, or 0.46%, to 27,828.12.
11:00am: India’s wireless service providers rise despite falls in broader indices. Bharti Airtel gains 1.95%, Idea Cellular Ltd is up 1.1% and Reliance Communications Ltd gains 2.6% after telecom minister Ravi Shankar Prasad told the Economic Times that spectrum-sharing guidelines will be taken to Cabinet by the end of June.
10:38am: Tata Steel Ltd shares fall 2% to ₹ 335 after CLSA has cut its outlook to “sell” from “buy”, Bloomberg reported. CLSA also reduced its target price by 40% to ₹ 290 a share.
10:20am: The S&P BSE Sensex is now trading at 27,865.73, down 91.77 points, or 0.33%.
10:14am: Lupin Ltd shares rise 2% to ₹ 1,769 apiece, while Tata Power Co. Ltd falls 1% to ₹ 75. Pharmaceutical firm Lupin Ltd will be included in the benchmark S&P Sensex with effect from 22 June in place of Tata Power Co. Ltd.
10:11am: Rolta India Ltd is trading down 7% to ₹ 116.30 after the company said net profit dropped 74% in the March quarter to ₹ 36.01 crore compared with ₹ 138.82 crore a year ago.
10:07am: Chennai Petroleum Corp. Ltd advances 5.1% to ₹ 94.95 after the company reported a 632.8% increase in net profit to ₹ 365 crore in the March quarter compared with ₹ 49.81 crore a year ago.
10:02am: Ceat Ltd jumps 2.6% to ₹ 791.90 after the company reported a 50.44% increase in its net profit to ₹ 93.91 crore in the March quarter compared with ₹ 62.42 crore a year ago.
9:56am: Natco Pharma Ltd rises 3.7% to ₹ 2,380 after the company said its net profit rose 126.6% in the March quarter to ₹ 54.44 crore compared with ₹ 24.02 crore a year ago.
9:52am: Gujarat State Petronet Ltd falls 3.4% to ₹ 113.55 after the company reported a 26.64% decline in net profit to ₹ 67.09 crore in the March quarter compared with ₹ 91.46 crore a year ago.

9:30am: ITC shares drop over 3% after the company’s fourth-quarter earnings rose 3.5% to ₹ 2,360 crore from a year ago, lagging behind the ₹ 2,520 crore estimated by 25 analysts in a Bloomberg survey. The results were announced after market hours on Friday.
