Revenue expenditure for 2013-14 is slated to increase by 13.7%, the most in three years. While revenue expenditure growth has been contained in the current fiscal year to March, its expansion was even lower in 2011-12. There was a massive boost to revenue expenditure in 2008-09 to offset the impact of the global financial crisis, which led to consumption being raised significantly. Revenue expenditure has been high since 2005-06 under the United Progressive Alliance.
